Union Home Minister Amit Shah Wednesday claimed that Rohingya and Bangladeshis who enter India from Bangladesh get voter cards made in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district.
Shah said at the News18 Rising Bharat Summit: “Even after fencing the border, there is about 250 km where fencing is not possible because there are rivers, streams and difficult geographical conditions. There are 400 kms of borders where the Bengal government is not giving us land for fencing.”
He claimed that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee allowed infiltrators, who crossed the border from Bangladesh, to get Indian documents. “…Whether they are Rohingyas or Bangladeshis, where are their voter cards being made? All these voter cards are made in Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district,” he claimed.
“If the people of Bengal vote out Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s government and bring in a BJP government, the issue will be addressed and the crime (along the Indo-Bangla border) will stop,” he said.
Shah said that the BJP will sweep the next Assembly election in the state. On Banerjee’s remark on the Supreme Court’s ruling on teachers’ appointments, he said, “I cannot say that I will not follow the SC ruling.”
