A senior IAS officer has been removed from her post as secretary of Rajasthan’s Department of Information Technology and Communication (IT&C), days after a public meeting by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Banswara saw technical glitches.

In an order it issued on September 25, the IT & C department, which was primarily responsible for technical arrangements at the public meeting in Banswara’s Napla village on September 25, cited “administrative reasons” for the decision. The officer, Archana Singh, did not respond to calls and messages seeking a comment, nor did the Department of Personnel share further details on the development.

An officer of the 2009 batch, Singh is currently awaiting a fresh posting.

According to sources, authorities in Jaipur and Delhi were dissatisfied with the issues that occurred during the speech the PM delivered there.

During his public meeting, an apparent technical glitch had caused the video system to fail while the PM had just reached the stage, causing the live feed to be cut off for nearly 10 minutes. There were also audio-visual disruptions while he was interacting with farmers.

The prime minister was in Banswara to lay the foundation stones for Rs 1.22 lakh crore worth of renewable energy projects — including the Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam Ltd (ASHWINI) Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project, expected to become one of India’s largest nuclear facility.
