80% seats on Bharat Nepal Astha Yatra train booked’

The route will cover Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Prayagraj in India and Pashupatinath (Kathmandu) in Nepal.

More than 80 per cent of seats for the first-ever trip of the 600-seater ‘Bharat Nepal Astha Yatra’ special train have already been booked, a senior IRCTC officer said on Monday. The train is scheduled to start its journey from Jalandhar in Punjab on March 31.

The route will cover Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Prayagraj in India and Pashupatinath (Kathmandu) in Nepal. The train, operated by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) Ltd, offers a nine-day and 10-night package inclusive of boarding fees, transport costs, and meals.

A senior IRCTC officer said, “The bookings are open. More than 80 per cent of seats out of 600 have been booked. The train will run till Raxaul railway station in East Champaran in Bihar and, thereafter, tourists will be taken to Nepal in buses. The boarding stations are Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Ambala, Kurukshetra, and Panipat in the Ambala Railway division. People can get more details by visiting the website (www.irctctourism.com).”

“Rs 41,090 is the fare for a single ticket in the superior category and the price of double tickets is Rs 31,610 each. The fare for a child between 5-11 years is Rs 28,450. In the standard category, Rs 36,160 is the fare for a single person, Rs 27,815 each for passengers travelling on a double ticket, and Rs 25,035 for a child,” he added.

According to the IRCTC, people can visit Ram Janmabhoomi temple, Hanuman Garhi, Saryu Ghat, and Nandigram in Ayodhya; Pashupatinath Temple, Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa in Kathmandu; Tulsi Manas temple, Sankat Mochan temple, Kashi Vishwanath Corridor and temple in Varanasi; and Yamuna Sangam, and Hanuman temple in Prayagraj along the route.
