WBCHSE West Bengal Board HS 12th Result 2020 HIGHLIGHTS: The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) declared the result for the Higher Secondary, Uccha Madhyamik, class 12 exam on Friday, July 17.  A total of 6.80 lakh (6,80,057) students cleared the examination successfully this year with a record pass percentage of 90.13 per cent.

Best stream

Though the science stream continues to remain the top-performer, it has delivered better results than last year. As many as 98.83 per cent of students who appeared in the science stream cleared the exam while for commerce and arts the pass percentage is at 92.22 and 88.74 per cent, respectively.

Takeaways from WB HS results 2020

The pass percentage stood at 90.13 per cent which is an all-time high in the history of higher secondary examinations. Last year’s pass percentage was 86.29 per cent. 

Examinations on 14 subjects could not be held as the lockdown was imposed following a COVID 19 outbreak in the country. 

WBCHSE president Mohua Das announced that 99.80 per cent is the highest mark received by the topper.  

This year, a total 7,61,583 students appeared in the examination out of which 6,80,057 were successful. 

The pass percentage of male students stood at 90.44 per cent while that of female students stood at 90 per cent. 

Among the districts, Kolkata topped in registering the highest pass percentage followed by East Midnapore, West Midnapore, Kalimpong, South 24 Parganas, Howrah, North 24 Parganas, and Hooghly.  

The pass percentage of minority candidates stood at 86.76 per cent. 

From July 31 onwards, mark sheets and certificates will be distributed to schools from 52 camp offices.

How many students scored above 90%

A total of 30,220 students have got O grade (90 to 100 marks), while 84,746 students have got A plus grade (80 to 89 marks). More than 50 per cent students (3,22,056) have scored 60 per cent or more marks (first division)

Minimum passing marks

To clear the exams a student has to secure a minimum of 30 per cent in all compulsory subjects. The mark division has been at 90 points each for the subjects since 2011. There are also 10 points awarded for internal evaluation.

As per reports, around 8 lakh candidates had appeared for the HS exams this year. Therefore, there will be a high influx on the on the board's official websites when the results are announced. Covid-19 impact on Bengal HS exams!

Like many state board exams, West Bengal HS exams were also disrupted due to Covid-19 outbreak. The government had initially postponed the exams, and the pending subjects which included physics, accountancy, chemistry, geography were scheduled to be held in July. However, due to steady rise in the Covid-19 graph, the state government was forced to cancel the exams. The West Bengal education board has confirmed that the evaluation for the pending subjects will be done on the basis of examinations that were held before the Covid-19 induced nation lockdown. It has been decided that the candidates will be awarded the highest mark obtained in the papers the examinee had written.

West Bengal Madhyamik results!

The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) had declared the state Madhyamik results earlier this week and recorded a passing percentage of 91.07

Aritra Pal, who hails from Memari in Purba Bardhaman district, topped this year’s Madhyamik examination with 694 marks, which included centum in Mathematics, History and Geography.

Meanwhile, two other state boards - Jharkhand Board class 12  and Manipur Board class 12 will release their results today. The Jharkhand state board results are expected to be released around 2 pm, while Manipur might release it shortly.
