UPSC IFS 2024: Mains exam from November 24, complete schedule here

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the mains exam dates for the Indian Forest Service (IFS) examination. The examination will be conducted from November 24 and will conclude on December 1. Candidates can download the UPSC IFS Mains schedule from the official website, upsc.gov.in.

The preliminary exam was conducted in one day on June 16. On July 1, the commission released the UPSC IFS preliminary results for 2024.

The written exam results for the 2023 batch were released with the names of the shortlisted candidates on July 19. Asodiya Parth Sureshkumar took the top spot, followed by Shreya Thakur in second place and Mendapara Nikunjkumar Prafulbha in third.

The service is focused on the management of the country’s forests, wildlife, and environment. The IFS exam pattern is quite rigorous, consisting of three main stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Personality Test (Interview). The preliminary examination is the first stage of the selection process and is common with the civil services examination (CSE). It consists of two objective-type papers.

Both papers carry 200 marks each, and the marks of Paper I are considered for merit in the Prelims. However, Paper II is qualifying in nature. Candidates clearing the preliminary exam move on to the mains examination. The mains examination is descriptive in nature and tests candidates on various specialized subjects.
