University of Hyderabad professor nominated as member of IGNOU Planning Board

The members are appointed based on their eminence in different specialisations and contributions to the field of higher education.

Professor V Venkata Ramana, Professor, School of Management Studies at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been appointed as the member of the Planning Board of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). The appointment is for a period of three years with effect from November 12, 2024.

The planning board of IGNOU is the apex and principal body responsible for designing appropriate programmes and activities for the open university.

The members are appointed based on their eminence in different specialisations and contributions to the field of higher education, a statement issued in this regard said.

Prof. V Venkata Ramana served as dean of the School of Management Studies after which he was appointed as the Vice Chairman, TGCHE (a statutory body) of Telangana government for seven years and also as Vice Chancellor (i/c) of RGUKT, Basar for more than two years and recently joined back the UoH after completion of his tenure.

He has also earlier been on the boards of SBH, IIFCL and served on various committees of UGC and AICTE and also as expert member of the committee setup by the Ministry of Defence.
