UGC NET 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the exam city intimation slip for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) 2024 June session exam.
The candidates who have filled the online application form can download their city slips from the official website – ugcnet.nta.ac.in and nta.ac.in.
The city intimation slip carries the necessary information about the exam venue so that the student can travel and find accommodation before the day of exam. The admit cards are also expected to be released two to three days before the exam.
The UGC NET June 2024 is scheduled to be held from August 21 to September 4 in a computer-based test (CBT) mode. The June session of UGC NET was conducted on June 18 but was cancelled after accusations of paper leak were raised. On investigation, it was found that the paper was not leaked.

(a) Each question carries 02 (two) marks.(b) For each correct response, candidate will get 02 (two) marks.
(c) There is no negative marking for incorrect response.
(d) No marks will be given for questions un-answered/un-attempted/marked for Review.
(e) To answer a question, the candidate needs to choose one option as correct option.
(f) If a question is found to be incorrect/ambiguous or has multiple correct answers, only those candidates who have attempted the question and chosen one of the correct answers would be given the credit.
(g) If a question is found to be incorrect and the Question is dropped, then two marks (+2) will be awarded to only to those candidates who have attempted the question. The reason could be due to human error or technical error.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had on Thursday said that the paper was leaked on darknet. “Soon after it was clear that the UGC-NET question paper on darknet matches the original question paper of UGC-NET, we decided to cancel the examination. We take responsibility and have to rectify the system,” Pradhan had said.
“A written complaint was received on 20.06.2024 from K Sanjay Murthy, Secretary, Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi alleging that UGC NET-2024 was conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) on 18.06.2024 in two shifts across different cities of the country… that on 19.06.2024, the University Grants Commission (UGC) received inputs from National Cyber Crime Threat Analysis Unit of Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (14C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs on the examination that the integrity of the aforesaid examination may have been compromised,” the CBI FIR said.

A CBI investigation into the UGC-NET paper leak has found that the question paper might have leaked June 16, two days before the exam, which was released on the darknet and an encrypted social media channel and is suspected to have been sold for more than Rs 5 lakh, sources said.
However, sources said it is not known how and from where the paper was leaked and for this, the CBI is looking at the role of those who handled the question paper at various levels from the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the exam, to the examination centres.
Following a complaint from the Ministry of Education, the CBI on Thursday registered an FIR in the matter against unknown suspects for cheating and criminal conspiracy. The central agency is coordinating with the ministry and the NTA for its investigation.

The combined duration of the two papers is three hours, and both papers are meant to be attempted in one session without any break. Both papers consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs). A total of 150 questions are asked, with 50 questions in Paper 1 and 100 questions in Paper 2. UGC-NET is conducted twice a year, in June and December. Although the NTA has been holding this test in computer-based test format since December 2018, it went back to pen-and-paper format this year.

The CBI probe into the alleged UGC-NET paper leak has found that the “evidence”, which led the Education Ministry to cancel the exam just a day after over 9 lakh candidates appeared for it across 317 cities on June 18, was doctored, government sources told The Indian Express.
On June 19, the Centre canceled the exam crucial for entry-level teaching jobs and PhD admissions in Indian universities, following inputs from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) that “the integrity of the examination may have been compromised”.

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is considering a return to its traditional in-house entrance examinations for PhD admissions, potentially ending the responsibility of conducting the test outsourced with the National Testing Agency (NTA). This shift comes in the wake of the recent cancellation of the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) by the Indian government, citing potential integrity issues. UGC NET Exam City Slip Live: Parents association urges MoE, NTA, UGC to not conduct UGC NET re-exam
The India-Wide Parents Association (IWPA) has written a letter to the Ministry of Education, National Testing Agency (NTA), and University Grants Commission (UGC) requesting not to hold a re-exam of the UGC NET June session which was conducted across the country on June 18.
In the letter, the Association asks the concerned authorities to release the result of UGC NET as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has ruled out any paper leak. They contend that conducting a re-exam will be unjustified and an injustice to lakhs of candidates.
“These aspirants have already cleared the exam without any unfair means as investigated by CBI that there was no leak and recently government took a call to not cancel the NEET UG exam even when leaks happened at some places. Due to such decisions, lakhs of students are suffering mentally and physically,” read a statement from the letter.
