NIRF Ranking 2024: The Ministry of Education on Monday released the Indian Ranking Report for 2024. This year, under the architecture and planning category, the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee dominated the list followed by the IIT-Kharagpur, National Institute of Technology Calicut, and the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur in second, third and fourth ranks respectively.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that beginning this year the ranking will have three more additions —skill universities, open universities, and state government colleges.
Here is the list of the top 10 colleges under the architecture and planning category:
1. Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee
2. Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur
3. National Institute of Technology Calicut
4. Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur
5. School of Planning and Architecture New Delhi
6. Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology University
7. Jamia Millia Islamia
8. National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli
9. National Institute of Technology Rourkela
10. Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology Nagpur
Since 2021 the first position is secured by the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, whereas it was ranked at the second spot position in Architecture and Planning subject of the India Rankings from 2018 to 2020.
National Institute of Technology Calicut had received 78.18 score points and was ranked in the second position from 2021 to 2023, while it was ranked in the third position in the 2019 and 2020 NIRF categories. This year, the institute saw a decline from previous two years and is now at third spot.
Last year, the IIT-Kharagpur was ranked third obtaining a score point of 78.18, however this year it has improved its ranking and secured second position. IIT Kharagpur secured third rank in NIRF Rankings from 2021 to 2023, while it was at the top spot from 2018 to 2020.
National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli’s in NIRF 2023 secured fourth rank with a score of 65.42 however this year the institute has dropped by four points and reached to eighth position.
The School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi previous year was ranked in fifth spot in 2023 with a score point of 65.14 and this year also it maintained the same.
