Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a longer post study work visa for Indian students in France. Modi said that France has decided to grant a long-term five-year visa for students pursuing a masters degree in their country.

This announcement was made while PM Modi addressed the Indian community at La Seine Musicale in Paris.

Earlier, Indian students in France were given two years of post study work visa.

What is a post study work visa?

A post study work visa (PSW) — also known as Graduate Route in some countries — is a time offering by the host country for international students. The post study work visa allows international students to complete their studies and then stay on for a few years (decided by the local government) to find job opportunities and earn experience.

However, the majority of countries make it compulsory for students to ensure that the jobs they apply for should be related to their chosen field, in which they have earned their degree.
