The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has released the schedule for the 2024 Civil Services Preliminary Examination. According to the announcement, the OPSC CSE Prelims is scheduled to take place on October 12. Candidates can access the official notification on the commission’s website at opsc.gov.in. The recruitment process aims to fill 265 posts.
“In continuation of this Office Notice No. 3207/PSC, dt-15.05.2025, it is for the information of all concerned that the Commission has decided to conduct the Odisha Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination-2024, pursuant to Advt. No. 07 of 2024-25 on 12.10.2025 (Sunday). The detailed programme of the said examination shall be notified later. The candidates are advised to visit the website of the Commission at opsc.gov.in for further information,” read the notice uploaded on the official website.
The OPSC selection process will include a preliminary examination (objective type), after which shortlisted candidates will take the main examination. The main examination will consist of both written tests and an interview to select candidates for various services and positions.
Only those candidates can apply for the posts who possess a Bachelor’s degree from any university recognised by the government. The age limit for candidates is between 21 and 38 years as of January 1, 2024. This means that OPSC applicants must not have been born earlier than January 2, 1986, and not later than January 1, 2003.
The OPSC preliminary exam will have two compulsory objective-type papers, each carrying a maximum of 200 marks for Paper I and Paper II.
Most questions in the exam will carry a penalty for incorrect answers, with one-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to a question deducted for each wrong response. However, some questions will follow a nuanced marking approach, where negative marking is built into the scoring system, awarding different marks based on how appropriate the selected answer is.
A detailed notification outlining the OCSE application schedule, syllabus, exam format, marking criteria, mains examination structure, number of vacancies, and other key information will be published in due course by the Commission.
