NTA JEE Main 2023 Updates: Day 6 concludes; overall difficulty rated moderate

JEE MAIN 2023: Physics rated easy

Questions were spread in all topics like Mechanics, Waves and Modern Physics. The optics part had less contribution in this shift. There were two questions each from Thermal properties of matter, Elasticity, Semiconductor and Alternate Current. The paper was formula based and students were able to do questions easily.

Candidates are not allowed to carry:

Instruments, Geometry or Pencil box, Handbag, Purse, any kind of Paper/ Stationery/ Textual material (printed or written material),

Why was January 27 exam canclled?

Earlier, an exam was scheduled on January 27 too, but it was cancelled due to the fear that candidates may face trouble travelling after January 26. The NTA chief Vineet Joshi also told indianexpress.com that one reason behind this change in date was PM Modi’s Pariksha Pe Charcha 2023, which is scheduled on January 27. “There may be some students who are enrolled in that too, and we wanted to avoid any clash,” he explained.

JEE Main 2023: NTA to re-open application correction window after results

The NTA today announced that the agency will be re-opening the application correction window for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) 2023 after the results of the first session examinations. Candidates will be able to make changes in the application form at the official website — jeemain.nta.nic.in.

JEE Main 2023: Mathematics rated moderate by students

Students rated the mathematics paper as moderate, but slightly time taking due to the lengthy calculations involved. A few good questions were interspersed sporadically. Questions were asked from Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Vectors and 3D and Algebra were there. Vector and 3D were dominant in the paper. Almost all the topics were covered. Practice through mock tests holds the key.

JEE Main 2023: Physics rated easy

Questions from Mechanics, Optics, Waves and Modern Physics were duly represented in the paper. Two questions from Modern Physics and two questions from Electromagnetic Waves were there in the paper. Other chapters were also included in due proportions. There were a good number of numerical which were largely formula based. According to students, class 12 Physics had a bit more weightage on the paper. Previous year questions were also there in the paper. Solving a good number of mock tests would prove to be an effective strategy.

JEE Main 2023: Students rate exam as balanced

The students rated this exam as a balanced paper which could have been solved in the stipulated time. Some students, however, found the Mathematics section to be a bit difficult. The difficulty level-wise order according to a large section of students is: Mathematics > Chemistry > Physics

JEE Main 2023 Session 1: Afternoon shift paper analysis- Mathematics

The mathematics paper was moderate but slightly time taking due to the lengthy calculations involved. A few good questions were interspersed sporadically. Questions were asked about Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Vectors & 3D and Algebra. Coordinate Geometry was dominant in the paper. There were two questions from Matrix and determinants, three questions from Vectors and 3D, one question from Statistics and three questions from Continuity and Differentiability. JEE Main 2023 Session 1: Afternoon shift paper analysis- Chemistry

Chemistry paper was by and large based on NCERT books and exemples. The majority of the numerical-based questions were from Physical Chemistry and the remaining from Organic and Inorganic Chemistry. Overall the questions from the Physical, Organic and Inorganic branches were more or less evenly distributed. Questions from prominent chapters like Equilibrium, Thermodynamics Redox reactions, Chemical bonding and Chemical Kinetics were asked. Overall coverage of the chapters was uniform. Inorganic chapters like Co-ordination Compounds, d-block and p-block had good weightage in the paper.

JEE Main 2023 Session 1: Check paper analysis for day 5 afternoon shift paper

Physics had questions from modern physics, semiconductor, optics, EM waves. Mathematics had questions from vector & 3D conic section and Chemistry had IOC periodic table, chemical bonding, qualitative analysis. There were more questions from class 11th than class 12th. Maths was lengthy and tough than 2022 especially integer types questions.

JEE Main 2023: How many questions were there for all three subjects?

Each subject had a total of 30 qustions for a total of 100 marks, taking the total to 300 marks. Each subject had two sections- Section A with 20 questions and section B with 10 questions. Section A had Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and section B had questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value.

Mathematics was lengthy and tricky

Mathematics was moderate to tough. Weightage was given to chapters of Algebra and Calculus. Questions asked from Parabola, Ellipse, Definite Integrals, Area, Differential Equations, Matrices, Probability, Permutation & Combination, Determinants, Vectors, 3D Geometry, Binomial Theorem, Complex numbers, Progression Series. Morning shift paper analysis- Chemistry had questions from NCERT

The chemistry paper was balanced. It was observed by students that the physical portion was less as compared to Organic and Inorganic Chemistry. Most of the physical chemistry questions were of integer type. Chapters like p-block, d-block, and Coordination chemistry had more weightage in the paper. The whole paper was mostly NCERT based. Candidates are advised to carry only the following things with them into the exam centre:
- Admit card along with Self Declaration (Undertaking) downloaded from the NTA website (a clear printout on A4 size paper) duly filled in.
- A simple transparent Ball Point Pen.
- Additional photograph, to be pasted on the attendance sheet.
- Personal hand sanitizer (50 ml), if required.
- Personal transparent water bottle.
- Sugar tablets/fruits (like banana/apple/orange) in case the candidate is diabetic.

JEE Main 2023: Reporting time for students

Students have to report at least 40 minutes before the examination. For the afternoon shift, candidates will get entry into examination hall till 2:30 pm. They will then receive instructions from the instructors from 2:30 pm to 2:50 pm. They will be allowed to login to read instructions at 2:50 pm and the exam will begin at 3 pm

JEE Main 2023: Will there be negative marking in Section B?

There will be negative marking for Section B. However, if any anomaly or discrepancy is found after
the process of challenges of the key verification, it shall be addressed in the following manner:
i. Correct Answer: Four marks (+4)
ii. Incorrect Answer: Minus one mark (-1)
iii. Unanswered/Marked for Review: No mark (0).
iv. If a question is found to be incorrect or the Question is dropped then Four marks (+4) will be
awarded to all those who have attempted the question. The reason could be due to human
error or technical error.
v. Candidates are advised to do the calculations with the constants given (if any) in the questions.
The answer should be rounded off to the nearest integer.

In other news — IIT Delhi invites applications for MBA programme

IIT Delhi is conducting the registration process for admission to the MBA programme for the academic year 2023-25. The last date for filling the application form is January 31. Interested and eligible candidates can apply at the official website— iitd.ac.in.

The institute will admit students on the basis of their CAT score and a personal interview. The interview will be held from March 15 to 17 and results will be tentatively declared during the first week of May. Read details here

CSE not the only branch with opportunities, says former IIT Delhi Director

The majority of the numerical-based questions were from physical chemistry and the remaining from organic and inorganic chemistry. The paper was mainly based on NCERT books and examples. Overall the questions from the physical, organic and inorganic branches were more or less evenly distributed.

Questions from prominent chapters like coordination compounds, equilibrium, thermodynamics redox reactions, chemical bonding and chemical kinetics were asked. Overall coverage of the chapters was uniform. Questions were asked from p-block and metallurgy. The inorganic portion was more as compared to last year. A thorough study of the NCERT books, solving NCERT exemplars and mock tests based on NCERT is the guarantee of success in these types of tests.

Can JEE score help you get direct admission to German universities?

In Germany, you don’t have 12 years (10+2) of formal education, instead, you have 13 so you have to study one extra year known as ‘studienkolleg’. Once you successfully complete that year, you get admission to the university. Interestingly, if you have cleared JEE Advanced you can get direct admission to German universities. JEE Main 2023: Mathematics exam rated moderate

The mathematics paper was moderate but slightly time taking due to the lengthy calculations involved. A few good questions were interspersed sporadically. Two questions from binomial, and 3-4 questions from vector and 3D were there. Questions were asked from Calculus, Coordinate Geometry and Algebra were there. Coordinate Geometry was dominant in the paper. Almost all the topics were covered. Again practice through mock tests holds the key.

JEE Main 2023: Part 3 analysis, format

Part 3- Mathematics had a total of 30 questions:

- Section 1 had 20 multiple choice questions with single correct answers 

- Section 2 had 10 numerical based questions out which only 5 had to be attempted. Marking scheme for multiple choice questions was +4 for correct response, -1 for incorrect response, 0 if not attempted. Marking scheme for numerical based questions was +4 for correct response, -1 for incorrect response and 0 in all other cases. Total marks of this section were 100.
