Top 10 colleges in India: NIRF 2024 Rankings

In order to be ranked, all the higher education institutions are assessed on five parameters: teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practices, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception.

Defeating Miranda House, Hindu College this year has grabbed the number one position under the top ‘college’ category of NIRF Rankings. Delhi University’s Miranda House has been consistently adjudged as the top college (since 2017), however, they have to settle for second position.

The Education Ministry has released the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings 2024.

The third spot has been jointly secured by St Stephen’s College and Rama Krishna Mission Vivekananda College, Kolkata. Atma Ram Sanatan Dharm College has bagged the fifth spot.

Other top colleges include St Xavier’s College, PSGR Krishnammal College, Loyola College, Kirorimal College and Lady Shri Ram College for Women.

This year too, Delhi has dominated the list of top colleges as six out of top 10 colleges are from Delhi, while two are from Kolkata, and one each from Coimbatore and Chennai.

Delhi University‘s college has been dominating the ranking.

In 2022, DU’s St Stephen’s was pushed out of the top 10 college rankings. Stephen’s had dropped to rank 8 in 2021 from rank 4 in 2020. Two other DU colleges which featured in the top 10 list of 2022 were Atma Ram Sanatan Dharm (ARSD) College at rank 7 and Kirori Mal College (KMC) at number 10. In 2021, none of them were on the top 10 list. They had secured rank 12 and rank 17 respectively.
