NEET UG 2023: Things to keep in mind during counselling

Fresh registrations are to be done before round 1 using the same email id and phone number as the NEET exam form. Total 15 per cent seats of state colleges along with AIIMS and national institutes are to be filled in the first round of counselling.

MBBS aspirants should check the last year’s cut-off rank-wise of different colleges and match them for choice filling. Choice locking should be done by July 26. Results will be declared on July 29.

After the seat allotment, students can go for admission to colleges. If the allotted seat is not favourable he/she can book this seat and go for upgradation in round 2 counselling. The students who have not fetched seats in round 1 can continue for round 2 counselling starting from August 9. According to scores obtained in the NEET exam, the students will be allotted seats by August 18.

Locking of seats and going for upgradation is available in mop up round too. Mop up round is basically for remaining vacant seats and seats from deemed universities. Starting date of this round is from August 31, followed by choice locking by September 5. Results will be out by September 8.

Generally, very few seats remain after the mop-up round for the stray round. No new fresh registrations can be done in this round. An aspirant has to be registered in either of three rounds to go for a stray round.

Students need to be careful that different caste certificates are applicable in all India and state-level counselling because of the reservation at different state and central levels.

The procedure for the stray round will start from September 21 followed by choice filling and choice locking.
