Ministry of Tribal Affairs invites applications for National Overseas Scholarship scheme for ST candidates

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, is inviting applications for the National Overseas Scholarship Scheme (NOS) from ST candidates for the selection year 2023-24. Interested candidates can apply for this scholarship at the official website — overseas.tribal.gov.in.

Candidates have time till July 31 to apply for this scholarship.

National Overseas Scholarship Scheme (NOS): How to apply

Step 1: Visit the official website — overseas.tribal.gov.in.

Step 2: Click on ‘new registration’ or ‘login’ on the homepage.

Step 3: Check eligibility criteria and then process to register.

Step 4: Key in all the required details in the registration form,

Step 5: Submit and save the application form for future reference.

The government is allotting 20 scholarships under this scheme. The scholarship is awarded to students selected for pursuing higher studies abroad at the Masters level, PhD and Post-Doctoral Research programmes.

To be eligible for this scholarship, the Applicant should get admission for regular and full time Master’s/ PhD/Post Doctoral Courses in accredited University/Institutions in abroad after selection. For Master Degree, age of the candidate should not be more than 32 years as on July 1, 2023. For PhD, age should not be more than 35 years as on July 1, 2023, and for Post Doctoral Research, age should not be more than 38 years as on July 1, 2023.

In terms of minimum qualifications, 55 per cent marks or equivalent grade in relevant Master’s degree and PhD is needed for Post-Doctoral candidates, 55 per cent marks or equivalent grade in relevant Master’s degree for PhD candidates and 55 per cent marks or equivalent grade in relevant Bachelor’s degree for Master’s degree.

Additionally, the total family income from all sources of the applicant or his/her parents/guardians or spouse should not exceed Rs 6 lakh per annum for candidates.
