The NIRF rankings of IIT Patna in the overall category has dropped to 66 in 2023 from 59 in NIRF 2022. The institute bagged 21st rank in the engineering category in 2021, as opposed to 33rd in NIRF 2022 and 41st in NIRF 2023 in the engineering category.

QS Asia University Rankings of IIT Patna in past 5 years

The rank of IIT Patna in QS Asia University Rankings in 2023 has dropped from 301-350 in 2022 to 351-400 in 2023. The institute was constantly ranking in the 301-350 range between 2019 and 2022.

IIT Patna is one of the new IITs in the country set up by the Act of Indian Parliament on August 6, 2008. IIT Patna has 10 departments including Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Humanities and Social Science departments.

While the institute has been offering BTech in five disciplines – Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Chemical Engineering, it offers MTech in multi-disciplinary streams with eight specializations.
