JEE Main: While the number of registered students for placement at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Tirupati has witnessed an increase since the 2016 batch, however, the highest salary (lakh per annum) has dipped in the 2023 placement season.
According to the data available at the IIT Tirupati website, the number of registered students for placements has increased from 33 in the 2016-2020 batch to 49 in the 2019-2023 batch. However, the data has seen some ups and downs in the past batches. The number of registered students decreased from 33 in the 2016-2020 batch to 25 in the 2017-2021 batch, and then increased to 42 in the 2018-2022 batch, and finally reached 49 in the recent placement season.
Similarly, the number of placed students in BTech placements in IIT Tirupati also took a hit from 28 in the 2016-2020 batch to 24 in the 2017-2021 batch but then increased to 38 and 43 in 2022 and 2023 batches, respectively.
While the highest salary has increased from 43 lakh per annum in 2020 to 46 in 2023 lakh per annum, the number has decreased from the 2022 batch. The highest salary had gone down from 43 lakh per annum in 2020 to 40 lakh per annum in 2021, it then drastically increased to 69 lakh per annum in 2022. However, unlike other datasets, the highest salary took a hit and fell down to 46 lakh per annum in 2023.
Meanwhile, the average salary (lakh per annum) has gone from 15 to 14 in 2021 and then stayed constant at 25 in 2022 and 2023.
Located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, IIT Tirupati is a third generation IIT, which was initially mentored by IIT Madras. The institute offers a 4-year Bachelor of Technology (BTech) along with two-years Master of Science (MSc) Master of Science (MS), Master of Technology (MTech – started in 2018), Master of Public Policy (MPP) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes in several engineering, science and humanities fields.
