Just like every year, most of the applications were registered from the Central Board of Secondary Education students. As many as 2.05 lakh students applied form CBSE followed by 8,755 applications by UP Board and 8,398 applications by the Council for the Indian School Certification Examination (CISCE). Since the number of students clearing CBSE 12 with 95% marks has increased from last year, the DU cut off too has increased, as expected.

The second highest applicants to seats ratio was for BA (Honours) Sociology, with 1,11,988 applicants for 483 seats in 10 colleges.
The highest cut-off for the Journalism course is 98.5 per cent at Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, same as last year. However, the lowest cut-off for the course has risen from 92 per cent to 94 per cent at Bharati College.
Cut-offs also remain high for the BA (Honours) Journalism programme, which has the highest applicants to seats ratio across all courses, with 1,12,233 applicants vying for 306 seats across 7 colleges.
The cut-off does not dip below 95 per cent in any of the 11 colleges where the course is offered — with Aryabhatta College registering the lowest cut-off at that figure. The course is offered in only three co-ed colleges — Zakir Hussain College, Keshav Mahavidyalaya and Aryabhatta College. Of these, the highest cut-off is at Keshav Mahavidyalaya at 97 per cent.
In highly competitive admissions to Delhi University’s BA (Honours) Psychology programme, the cut-off has soared as high as 98.75 per cent in Lady Shri Ram College for Women.
The course, which had seen the sixth highest number of applicants — 1,12,312 — is offered in only 11 colleges, and there are all of 555 seats up for grabs across them. At 98.75 per cent, the course has registered the second highest cut-off across all courses, on a par with Shri Ram College of Commerce’s cut-off for its coveted BA (Honours) Economics programme.
SGTB Khalsa College, which had the highest cut-off of 98 per cent for Computer Science last year, continues to retain the same cut-off alongside Dyal Singh College (Morning). The admission under the first list will take place till July 1. The second cut-off will be declared on July 4.

For Mathematics and Statistics, the highest cut-off is 97.75 per cent at Hindu College. This is followed by 97 per cent at SGTB Khalsa College, Gargi College, Ramjas College and KMC.
In the science stream, the highest cut-off is for Physics (Hons) at Hindu College — 98.33 per cent, as compared to 98 per cent last year
For BA (Hons) Journalism, the highest cut-off is 98.5 per cent at DCAC, the same as last year. Lady Shri Ram College for Women (LSR) has the highest cut-off for Psychology at 98.75 per cent. The college has marginally increased its cut-off in all courses, except Journalism and Philosophy, where the cut-off has dipped by 0.25 and 1 percentage points respectively.
While SRCC increased its B.Com (Hons) cut-off by 0.75 per cent, its Economics cut-off has only gone up by 0.25 per cent. “We can accommodate 250-odd students for B.Com, but for Economics, we only take 63 students in general category, so we need to keep the cut-off high,” said SRCC principal Simrit Kaur.
Besides Economics, another subject for which cut-offs are high is B.Com (Hons). Both SRCC and Kirori Mal College have set the cut-off at 98.5 per cent for the course. Last year, the B.Com (Hons) cut-off at KMC was 97.5 per cent.
For Economics (Hons), Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) declared the highest cut-off of 98.75 per cent — an increase of 0.25 per cent from last year. For the popular English (Hons) course, the cut-off remained below 98 per cent, despite the course getting the highest number of applications (1,42,970). The highest cut-off for the course is at Hindu College at 97.75 per cent.
Explaining the high cut-off for Political Science at Hindu College, principal Anju Shrivastava said, “Our past experience is that there is usually over-admission in the course. The sanctioned strength from the general category is only 19, but last year we had 80 admissions in just the general category. It’s in demand, so it’s natural that we had to keep the cut-off high,” she said.
Many top Delhi University colleges marginally increased their cut-offs as compared to last year for most subjects. However, there are courses in which the cut-off has remained the same or dipped marginally.
Political Science receives highest number of applicationsThe course received the second highest number of applications this year — 1,30,240 — after English.
