The Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan attended the 2nd Australia-India Education and Skills Council (AIESC) meeting in Sydney on Thursday, alongside Australian Education Minister Jason Clare MP and Skills Minister Andrew Giles MP.
Pradhan is visiting Australia from October 22 to 26. The visit is expected to foster collaboration, participation, and synergy in critical areas of mutual interest in education.
During the meeting, Pradhan emphasised that education and skills development will drive economic prosperity for both nations while strengthening ties between their institutions.
The discussions focused on addressing future workforce needs, bridging skill gaps, and boosting research collaboration between the two countries’ higher education institutions. He hoped that AIESC would further strengthen the bilateral partnership between Australia and India at all levels of education: school, skills and higher education. He also announced that the next AIESC meeting will be in India in 2025.
Pradhan also engaged with Australia’s Innovative Research Universities (IRU) to explore potential partnerships with Indian institutions.
