CUET UG 2022 Exam Analysis Updates: The National Testing Agency (NTA) today con ducted the second day of the Common University Entrance Test undergraduate (CUET UG) 2022 exam. Yesterday, the exam was cancelled at several centres, and the second shift was completely cancelled by the NTA across the country. The exam conducting agency informed that due to “technical issues, the centres were unable to get access to the question papers.” The exam will be held for the second shift students between August 12 and 14. Admit cards for phase II students were released on August 2, and students can download the same from the official website — cuet.samarth.ac.in — by logging in through their registered credentials. These admit cards are valid for students who will have to reappear for CUET.
This year, the CUET UG exams have been divided into two phases — the first phase took place on July 15, 1 6, 19 and 20 and the second phase will be held on August 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10.
However, the Phase I students said they felt they were being put at a disadvantage, and some are also feeling the pressure of writing a large number of papers in one day itself. Some students also complained about their multiple competitive exams being on the same day, but the NTA asked students to mail them and considered some changes.
Students have rated the first phase of the CUET exam to be easy. Aspirants found the English exam to be easy and even though the Mathematics section was a bit lengthy, it was straightforward. The History paper included questions testing students on the causes of events and asking them to identify people involved in key events. "We weren't allowed to carry our water bottles inside the centre, even though official information communicated to us before mentioned no such thing," said Shambhavi Saxena, who appeared for the exam at sector 64, Noida exam centre.

She also claims that even though she finished her test with 10 minutes remaining, an announcement was made that the exam has been postponed, "but I don’t know whether my exam was accepted or if I will have to re-appear for it. The invigilators had no clarity on this."

Students and experts have ranked the English exam to be easy and approachable as compared to yesterday's examination. " Students with complete prepration could easily attempt 35/36 out of the total 40 questions," observed Gaurav Goel, co-founder and CEO of Toprankers.
Additionally, just like number series questions in mathematics, the English section today had Synonyms based series questions. Analogy questions were majorly the in form of synonyms and antonyms.

“I had reached at the reporting time, which was 1.30pm, but we were not allowed to enter the centre. At 3 pm they announced that the exam has been postponed. “The exam was supposed to start at 9, but we waited in front of the system till 10. Once it started, after attempting the English and Business Studies section, I went to the General Test section but it wasn’t opening. Others also faced the same problem so they told us to wait and keep refreshing the portal. At 12.30 pm, they told us to go home saying we will receive an email later," said Prachi Gauri, (19) who appeared for the exam from Birla Institute of Technology, Patna.

“We reached the centre on time, and there was huge crowd infront of school because there was no sort of communication by the officials. The NTA will soon issue the admit cards of students who have their exam scheduled from AUgust 7 onwards. Till now, no information has been updated on the official NTA accounts, but a senior NTA official had told The Indian Express that the hall tickets will be issued today.
While some aspirants have rated the domain section to be moderate, others said it was easy. Students found the Legal Studies paper to be easy with 4-5 questions based on the constitution, 3-4 each from International Laws, Arbitration and Legal Services. Meanwhile, History had mixed reactions as some students found the section to be lengthy. However, majority of the questions were based on NCERT syllabus.
The Political Science questions were also largely based on NCERT syllabus and were similar to NTA-issued mock test questions. "Chapters/topics that were given high importance were regional aspirations and democratic upsurge, and coalition politics. Around 60-70 per cent of the questions were from the second political science book. Match the following based questions dominated with 8-10 of them based on the rise of new social movements and Globalisation and its critics," explained Amitendra Kumar, product head – CUET & Under Graduate Programmes at Career Launcher.
Rohan Gupta (17) appeared for the morning slot of CUET UG exam today from Zenith IT Solution, Jahangirpuri and claims there were technical errors. "The entry was delayed to 10 am, but even after we entered we waited in front of the systems for two hours because the server was down," he told The Indian Express. "The centre officials were trying to help, but they also seemed confused. Finally they put up a notice, and announced that the exam has been postponed."

Candidates have rated the English language paper in Section 1 to be easy and well-timed. The section had a focus on vocabulary and grammar. With 15 questions based on reading comprehension, the focus was to test one’s grammar fundamentals and vocabulary. There were several questions on synonyms, antonyms, fill in the blanks, one-word substitution, spelling errors, figures of speech, para.

The students who appeared for the first shift of the CUET UG phase II exam said the questions were lengthy in nature. "Literary aptitude questions were in form of match the columns and those questions included proverbs too. Additionally, synonyms and antonyms were lengthy in nature too," said Gaurav Goel, co-founder and CEO of Toprankers.

Meanwhile, Delhi University on Wednesday approved a new process for admission to its undergraduate programmes based on Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores. Delhi's Mahek Ahluwalia, sister of an aspirant Ambuj Ahluwalia, said, “The process was quite smooth and all our queries about the syllabus, exam date and centre were answered on the NTA website. The centre Ambuj got was 30 minutes drive from our home in Central Delhi so it wasn’t difficult to travel here. Ambuj got his admit card and centre details on August 2 when NTA had issued the admit cards.”
Several students alleged that they were unable to open the General Test section in their CUET UG Phase II exam (morning slot) which was held from 9 am till 3 pm today. Candidates said there were several server issues due to which no questions appeared on their screen.

However, due to technical glitches in the server, I could not attempt the General Test and it has now been rescheduled. "All papers were well set and according to the syllabus. Only the General Test paper has been postponed to a later date. The environment in the hall was quite secure with water dispensaries in place for the students," said Radhika who appeared for Business Studies, Accounts, English Language and General Test.

"I attempted the Fine arts paper, English and Geography paper. Those appearing for the General Test faced a lot of server glitches in their paper and they weren't able to complete it. However, those appearing for Hindi language did not face server glitches. Personally, I did not face any issues as I did not attempt the General Test paper and was able to complete my papers. Frisking before the exam was also done properly with curtains present to guard each individual," Manju (19), who appeared for the exam at the University Stadium North Campus in Delhi told The Indian Express.

“We will have to verify these claims of technical snags. But if a candidate couldn’t complete the paper because of it, we will reschedule the paper for them. It goes without saying,” a senior NTA official told The Indian Express.

"Due to technical difficulties, the General Test did not appear on the screen. We sat there for five hours and couldn't attempt the paper. Most people couldn't submit their exams. Candidates who appeared for CUET UG 2022 exam at a centre in Noida Sector 64 echoed the same problems. "There was no information on the official website. The centre just told us the exam is cancelled. Later, a friend showed me the notice on Twitter," Rononjoy Mukherjee, a CUET candidate told The Indian Express.
Another student, Sakshi Adlakha, backed Ronojoy's story. "I reached the centre on time and on the spot we were informed that the exam has been cancelled. The centre officials announced it and other parents and students were also saying that the exam has been postponed," she told The Indian Express.

“We reached the centre at the reporting time, which was 7:20 am. We waited in the queue till 8 am outside the gate. The advisory we received earlier was that by this time we should be inside the centres and the invigilators should have guided us about the rules and regulations. Unlike, CUET UG 2022, CUET PG exam is not compulsory this year. Several central universities have taken up CUET PG for admissions including JNU, Pnodicherry University. However, universities like DU, Jamia Millia Islamia will not be adopting CUET PG this year. Yes, there will be negative marking for incorrect answers. Every incorrect answer will result in deduction of one mark, but no points are deducted for leaving a question unanswered.

Delhi University has received the highest number of CUET application (6.63 lakh), followed by Banaras Hindu University (4.34 lakh) and University of Allahabad (2.62 lakh).
Official data available with the National Testing Agency (NTA), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education, shows that 90 universities, which are using CUET scores for admissions this year, have received 58.5 lakh. Of the 58.5 lakh applications, 26.4 lakh have been received by just 13 universities. I want to try for Shri Ram College of Commerce but I can feel a huge burden. I just finished taking other major exams like IPMAT, and I don’t have enough time to study and revise, while a friend of mine who also opted for commerce subjects has her exam on August 20,” said a student from Hyderabad.
