CAT 2023: The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2023 exam was taken by around 2.88 lakh candidates on Sunday, November 26. According to data shared by IIM Lucknow, the attendance was approximately 88 per cent as against 86 per cent last year. This year, CAT recorded the highest-ever registrations, at 3.3 lakh. Last year, 2.22 lakh candidates appeared for the test while 2.56 lakh had registered.
The CAT 2023 exam was conducted in 375 test centres spread across 167 cities in India, IIM Lucknow in a statement said.
The CAT 2023 question paper had a total of 66 questions divided into three sections. While section 1 was Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), section 2 was Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) and section 3 was Quantitative Ability (QA).
While VARC sections contained 24 questions, DIRL and QA sections had 20 and 22 questions respectively. The time allotted for each section was 40 minutes for all the candidates and 53 minutes and 20 seconds for PWD candidates.
The duration of the test for all the candidates was 120 minutes, while it was 160 minutes for candidates belonging to the PWD candidates.
According to the paper analysis done by experts and feedback received by candidates taking the exam, IIM CAT 2023 was comparatively tougher than last year. The CAT results 2023 will likely be announced in the second week of January 2024. Prior to the announcement of CAT results 2023, the iimcat.ac.in website will host the CAT 2023 answer key.
