Newly appointed Union Minister for Earth Sciences, Kiren Rijiju, has started his assignment with gusto. He has been visiting science facilities to acquaint himself with his ministry. On Sunday, Rijiju called all heads of departments of the Earth Sciences Ministry for a review meeting. While he is picking up the technical aspects of this ministry, he is right now focusing on making earth sciences more accessible, and more comprehensible to people. At Sunday’s meeting, he instructed the officials to be far more active on social media than they are right now, and urged them to place scientific developments on media platforms.
New Role
With an organisational reshuffle of the Congress on the cards, there is a buzz that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra may not continue as the party’s Uttar Pradesh in-charge. The Congress, it seems, is keen that she move across the country, campaigning in election-bound states rather than remaining confined to UP. The buzz is that she could get a different role. It is said that many states will get new PCC presidents and some new leaders in-charge. All eyes are, however, on Rajasthan, as the leadership is said to be drawing up a plan to bring peace between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his former deputy Sachin Pilot and the proposal includes appointing a new PCC president.
