Split & Shift
With Nirman Bhawan set for demolition to make way for a new building under the Central Vista redevelopment, offices currently located in the complex are being shifted out. The CPWD, which is headquartered at Nirman Bhawan and is the department responsible for the redevelopment project, is being split into multiple locations. Some of its offices are being moved to R K Puram, the DMRC Supreme Court Metro Building, I P Bhawan and Vidyut Bhawan. To make way for the CPWD directorate to move to Vidyut Bhawan, the existing CPWD offices there have been asked to vacate by September 15.

Soon after the conference of chairpersons of parliamentary and state legislature committees on welfare of SCs and STs that was held in Bhubaneswar last week, similar events are scheduled in Bengaluru and Tirupati this month, continuing the Lok Sabha secretariat’s outreach and deliberations with state legislatures. In Bengaluru, the state legislature will host the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association All India Speakers’ Conference, and the Andhra Pradesh state legislature is slated to host a conference of parliamentary and state legislature committees on empowerment of women. The Bhubaneswar meet came close on the heels of the conference of Estimates Committee of Parliament and state legislatures in Mumbai.
