As Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini completes a year in office, opinion within the BJP seems to be split on him. Some party leaders say Saini has managed to create goodwill among the people with his interventions and initiatives. Another section feels he has not been able to come out of the shadows of his predecessor, Manohar Lal Khattar, when it comes to the process of administration. Party insiders said Saini had largely maintained the official machinery the same way Khattar left it. A section in the BJP now wants Saini to establish control over the bureaucracy.
Surprise buyer
Members of several farmer producer organisations (FPOs) were surprised to learn of online orders that came directly from Krishi Bhawan, the headquarters of the Union Agriculture Ministry that oversees FPO operations. Even more unexpected was the identity of the buyer: Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan himself. In a gesture aimed at encouraging farmer-led enterprises, the minister purchased Jawa Phool rice from an FPO based in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh. He also placed orders for turmeric, honey and saffron products from other FPOs.
Sticky situation
A mystery has gripped Delhi’s power corridors. A car belonging to an intelligence officer from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence was stolen from East Delhi a few days ago. The car carried a Ministry of Home Affairs parking label, a CGO Complex sticker and even an airport pass. Now, an internal alert has gone out, cautioning security personnel that the vehicle must not roll into sensitive zones, especially Kartavya Bhavan.
