FOR GOVERNMENT staffers working at Krishi Bhavan, which houses several ministries, one more shop has come up. Last week, the Agriculture Ministry, led by Shivraj Singh Chouhan, reopened the National Seed Corporation outlet that was closed during the Covid-19 pandemic. As Chouhan is busy in Jharkhand Assembly elections, no formal opening was organised. The NSC quietly commenced selling seeds, saplings and other products. On the first day, the plant most in demand was Tulsi, it is learnt. The Krishi Bhavan has outlets of various agencies such as NAFED, Kendriya Bhandar, bank branches and post office.
Tech-For-Tat
NATIONAL GREEN Tribunal chairperson Justice Prakash Shrivastava is a stickler for timely e-filing of case affidavits and reports. He does not entertain the excuse of “technical glitch” proffered by advocates for delays. If an advocate mentions “technical glitches”, the NGT chairperson seeks an answer on time of filing and reminds the person to take a screen grab and report the issue. More often than not, it emerges that e-filings are attempted after office hours, inviting mild censure from Justice Shrivastava.
Ticking Along
IT’S BEEN 10 days since the retirement of CPWD Director General Rajesh Kumar Kaushal on October 31, but the department is yet to get a replacement. Sources say the situation is unusual as not only has the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs not appointed a new DG, but also not given the additional charge of the post to another senior officer. Only routine work is being carried out by the department as engineers await the appointment of a new DG, it is learnt.
