The Lok Sabha election dates are yet to be announced, but Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has started touring the states and attending election rallies. His itinerary this week included the states which are considered to be tough for the BJP. He visited Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Bihar and addressed multiple rallies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s global popularity, Ram temple, the BJP government’s initiatives for women and India’s growing defence power have been his talking points. Sources said the BJP, which has set a target of 370 seats for the general elections, wants to make the best use of Singh’s credibility in the states where it is expecting a tough battle.

Post The Letter

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 19 sent a letter to Bahujan Samaj Party’s lone UP legislator Uma Shankar Singh, extending wishes and blessings to his recently married son and daughter-in-law. Singh, who had invited the PM to the wedding, made his letter  public on Thursday, two days after he voted in support of the BJP candidate, Sanjay Seth, in the Rajya Sabha elections. The BJP needed support of other party MLAs to secure a win for its eighth candidate. Singh’s move to vote for the BJP gave the Congress an opportunity to accuse the BSP of acting as a B-team of the BJP.
