Germany’s Ambassador to India Philipp Ackermann, and Barry O’Farrell, Australia’s High Commissioner to India, on Thursday called on Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge separately. They discussed the deepening bilateral ties their respective countries have with India. Kharge gifted the Australian High Commissioner B R Ambedkar’s book, ‘The Buddha and his Dhamma’ (in picture), and a copy of Jawaharlal Nehru’s ‘The Discovery of India’ to the German Ambassador.
The Karnataka Assembly poll results seem to have spoiled the BJP’s game for now in at least one neighbouring state. In Telangana, amid an intense battle between supporters of the party’s state unit chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and those opposed to him, some leaders have started openly giving the national leadership some advice for the state unit. On Thursday, senior Telangana BJP leader and national executive member A P Jitender Reddy’s tweet left many amused. He posted a video of a man trying to get a yak on a truck. As the animal refused to yield, the video shows the man kicking the animal to make it jump on to the vehicle — a “treatment” that he said is needed for the party’s state leadership.
