Kerala weather: Kerala is getting lashed by rain for the past couple of days. The India Meteorological Department has forecast extremely heavy rainfall in multiple cities of Kerala.
“Extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm in 24 hours) is very likely to occur at isolated places in Kerala on October 22 and heavy (7- 11 cm in 24 hours) to very heavy (12 -20 cm in 24 hours) rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places in Kerala on October 23,” the latest update from the IMD read.
“Heavy rainfall (7cm to 11cm in 24 hours) is very likely to occur at one or two places in Kerala from October 24 to 27 and in Lakshadweep on October 22. Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty wind (speed reaching 30- 40 km) is very likely to occur at one or two places in Kerala and Lakshadweep till October 25,” the IMD updated stated.
The IMD has issued ‘red’ warning for Idukki, Palakkad, and Malappuram due to the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall on Wednesday.
‘Orange’ warning (heavy to very heavy rainfall) has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode & Wayanad for Weneday and Kannur and Kasaragod on Thursday.
A ‘yellow’ warning has been issued due to the possibility of heavy rain in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kannur, Kasargod & Lakshadweep on Wednesday; Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad on Thursday; Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasargod on Friday; Kannur and Kasargod on Friday.
