Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has opened another confrontation with the Left government in the state. Referring to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s recent interview with The Hindu, Khan had sent a letter to the CM seeking a report on the “nature of anti-national activities”and actions taken against those involved.
As the report “got delayed”, Khan asked the chief secretary and the state police chief to brief him in-person regarding Vijayan’s reported statement. The CM, in a letter, hit back at the Governor, saying that the Governor doesn’t not have the Constitutional rights to issue such a directive to the Chief Secretary and the DGP.
On Wednesday, Khan told the media: “He (Vijayan) has something to hide. Why did he keep me in the dark about anti-national activities? I am the head of the state. Soon you will come to know whether I have authority or not.”
