Kerala: CPI leader pays tribute to dead Maoist

He paid floral tributes to Devraj as his body was taken out of the morgue at Kozhikode medical college hospital for cremation in the evening.

CPI national executive member Binoy Vishwam on Friday paid tribute to top Maoist leader Kuppu Devraj, who was shot dead in an encounter in Kerala last month.

He paid floral tributes to Devraj as his body was taken out of the morgue at Kozhikode medical college hospital for cremation in the evening. Devraj and another Maoist leader, Ajitha, was killed in an encounter in Nilambur forests on November 24. The bodies were kept at the mortuary after the relatives demanded fresh autopsy, but the high court rejected the plea.

“It is the duty of a Communist to pay respect to a felled comrade. So, I have been deputed by my party to pay tribute to Devraj. When the Left is ruling the state, police should not resort to right-wing attitude,” Vishwam said, sending a strong message to senior partner CPM. ENS
