After reports that Shalini Rane, mother of deceased builder Nikhil Rane, had submitted an application in the court alleging that Nikhil Rane’s wife Ashwini had purposefully avoided Shalini Rane’s name from the list of successors,Ashwini Rane has come forward to deny the allegations.

Shalini Rane had stated that as she is the legal successor of Nikhil Rane, her name should have been mentioned by Ashwini in the list of partners.

“Partnership is a contract between its partners and cannot be acquired by status. The successors of a deceased partner are not entitled to become partners in the firm against the wish and content of existing partners. Also, the share of a successor of a deceased partner is limited to their share in capital balance as of the deceased partner,” said Ashwini Rane.

Ashwini Rane said that as a partner in M/s Rane Developers founded by Nikhil Rane, she was authorised to carry out formalities related to submission of plans, commencement and completion of construction of the said scheme. Nikhil Rane was murdered in November last year.
