Tata Motors on Wednesday beat Kirloskar Group by ten runs in the final to win the Twenty-20 Industrial Cricket Tournament. The match was played at the Tata Motors Ground in Pimpri.
Batting first,Tata Motors put up a total of 114 before being bundled out in 19.3 overs. Avinash Tikone top-scored with 40 runs while Amol Kaygude gave him good support with a quickfire 35. For Kirloskar,Rohit Khadkikar was the pick of the bowlers scalping two wickets for just fourteen runs. Charudatta Kulkarni and Dynaneshwar Kumbhar gave him good support picking up a wicket each.
In reply,Kirloskar managed to score 104 runs for 9 wickets in their stipulated 20 overs,thus falling short of their target by 10 runs. Charudatta Kulkarni top-scored with 29 and Amit Chavan gave him good support with 28, but both their efforts went in vain. For Tata Motors,Waman Jere and Kailas Dange did most of the damage by picking up a couple of wickets each.
The best batsman award went to Avinash Tikone of Tata Motors and the best bowler award went to his team mate Waman Jere. An award was also given to Vipul Jeurkar of Mather & Platt for being the sole centurion of the tournament and for the only hattrick picked up by Vinod Mane of Thyssenkrupp Industries.
