Student who jumped from Metro station in Pimpri-Chinchwad, dies

HOURS AFTER a 21-year-old student jumped from the Metro station in Pimpri-Chinchwad in a suspected suicides attempt, he succumbed to his injuries while being treated at a hospital. Police said that their initial probe points to financial woes as the preliminary cause for him to take the extreme step.

The deceased identified as Sujal Mankar (21) hailed from Khed in Pune district and was pursuing Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) at the DY Patil College in Pimpri. Around 6 pm on Monday, he jumped from Sant Tukaram Nagar Metro station in Pimpri and fell on the road outside the station.

“He was rushed to a hospital and had started receiving treatment. He succumbed to multiple critical injuries in the night. While no suicide note has been found, initial probe points to this being a case of suicide.” said Inspector Ashok Kadlag, in-charge of Pimpri Police station.

“The deceased and his family have been facing financial issues. We suspect it to be the reason behind him taking the extreme step. Our probe is on.” Inspector Kadlag added.
