BJP workers brawl during Shivajinagar candidate Siddhartha Shirole’s campaign; no FIR lodged

The Maharashtra Assembly election for 288 constituencies is scheduled to be held on November 20.

A brawl was reported between two groups of BJP workers at Sangamwadi in Pune Thursday night during the Maharashtra Assembly election campaign rally of Siddhartha Shirole, the party’s candidate and sitting MLA in the Shivajinagar constituency.

The Pune police said the Bharatiya Janata Party workers settled the issue between themselves and no complaint was filed by anybody.

According to the police, the groups of BJP workers quarrelled as Shirole met other party workers in the area after the election rally at around 9.30 pm.

“After receiving information, our team rushed to the spot. We asked the people concerned to come to the police station and file their complaints. But they conducted a meeting and settled the matter. It was a minor incident and no complaint was filed,” said Ravindra Shelke, Senior Police Inspector, Yerwada police station.

The Maharashtra Assembly election for 288 constituencies is scheduled to be held on November 20. Votes will be counted on November 23.
