Pune Divisional Commissioner Prabhakar Deshmukh is likely to submit the report on the Shindewadi accident to revenue minister Balasaheb Thorat by the end of September.
My department officials have collected information and conducted necessary correspondence. Inquiry conducted by the district collectorate will be a part of this report. Notices were issued based on the report and officials found guilty will be suspended, Deshmukh said.
The report was sought in the backdrop of the accident in which a car was swept away during flash floods on June 6,killing a mother and her one-and-half-year old daughter in Katraj area.
Following the incident,the district administration had carried out a demolition drive against illegal structures in the area. He had also initiated action against illegal structures around national and state highways and had asked the collectors of five districts – Pune,Kolhapur,Solapur,Satara and Sangli – to take immediate action against illegal constructions.
Instructions were also given to them to take action against illegal structures on hilltops in their respective districts,while an inquiry was initiated against officials,who had permitted illegal structures to come up. Action was to be carried out by the public works department,district administration and local administration. The administration was also coordinating with the police to expedite cases related to fake land dealings and frauds.
