A senior citizen allegedly died by suicide by jumping from the balcony of his residence on the second floor of a building in Mayur Colony in Kothrud on Sunday afternoon.
Police have identified the deceased as Makrand Mahadev Mengale (89).
Police said Makrand was unwell and using a walker. He was residing alone at his Mayur Colony residence. PPolice said Mengale’s family had employed a full time helper to look after him.
The helper left in the afternoon to bring lunch, Mengale in that time, managed to jump down from the balcony.
After receiving information about the incident, a team of Kothrud police station reached the spot for investigation.
Senior police inspector Hemant Patil said that a suicide note was found. Police said the deceased was suffering from medical problems and was feeling lonely, due to which he is suspected to have committed suicide.
