With the Lok Sabha election around the corner, a three-day coordination meeting of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) began in Pune on Thursday. As many as 267 office bearers of 36 organisations, including BJP chief J P Nadda, attended the meeting on day one.
Over the next three days, the organisations will discuss the current political and social situation in the country and brainstorm on the future strategy for handling the various emerging issues.
Issues related to education, economy and national security will also be discussed. The meeting will also deliberate on topics related to social change like environment, social cohesiveness, swadeshi behaviour and civic duties.
While Union Home Minister Amit Shah was earlier scheduled to attend the meeting, there is uncertainty over his presence. Meanwhile, Nadda was accompanied by party leaders B L Santosh and Shiv Prakash.
According to RSS chief spokesperson Sunil Ambekar, the office bearers of the various organisations will speak about their work and experiences on the field and inform about the current political and social issues in the country. “The issues will be discussed but the final decision on the issues will be taken at a meeting in November,” Ambekar said.
Prominent among those attending the meeting from the RSS include Sah Sarakaryavah Krishnagopal, Manamohan Vaidya, Arun Kumar, Mukunda and Ramdatt Chakradhar.
