Yesteryear Marathi actor-director Ravindra Mahajani was found dead inside a rented apartment at the Xrbia Society in Pune’s Talegaon Dabhade on Friday.

According to the police, Mahajani, a resident of Mumbai, was staying alone in the accommodation for about eight months.

The neighbours contacted the police on Friday around 4.30 pm after they found a foul smell emanating from the apartment.

Soon, a team from Talegaon MIDC police station reached the spot and found the apartment locked from inside. In presence of the local residents, the cops broke open the door, entered the house and found Mahajani’s body inside.

The police said the owner of the apartment identified the deceased person as Mahajani.

They suspect that the actor had passed away about two to three days before the recovery of his body.
