A Pune woman fell into a 50-foot-deep gorge at Borne Ghat in the Satara district on Saturday evening and was rescued by local authorities and trekkers. The incident occurred while the woman, identified as Nasreen Qureshi, 29, a resident of Warje, had stopped at the scenic spot on the Satara-Thoseghar Road with her friends.

As per local authorities, Qureshi and her group were clicking photographs near the edge of a cliff when she slipped and fell into the 50-foot gorge.

After her friends raised an alarm, locals informed home guards and members of the ‘Shivendrasingh Rajje Trekkers group’.

“One of the home guards climbed down into the gorge and safely brought her back with the help of a rope,” said a local policeman.

“Qureshi has received injuries and has been hospitalised,” he added.

A video of the rescue, which has since gone viral on social media, shows the rescuers throwing a thick rope down the 50-foot-deep gorge.
