The Mumbai to Pune corridor of the Pune-Mumbai Expressway will be closed for traffic on Tuesday between 12 pm and 2 pm for the work on building overhead gantries at two locations near Lonavala, the state highway police officials said.
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation will construct two overhead gantries at Amrutanjan Bridge and Khandala tunnel as part of the expressway traffic management project being implemented on the 94-kilometre-long eway between Pune and Mumbai.
Officials said they have chosen the two-hour period because traffic is sparse during afternoons and a weekday has comparatively lower volume than the weekend.
State highway police officials said vehicles on the corridor will be stopped at a place prior to the two points where the construction will be done. The traffic flow will resume after the work is over, they added.
