Two ATMs tampered in Pune Camp, Rs 4L stolen

THREE UNIDENTIFIED persons tampered with two ATM machines in Pune Camp area and stole Rs 4.08 lakh from it, police said Saturday.

An FIR in this case was registered at the Lashkar police station on Friday based on a complaint filed by Razzak Inamdar (54), branch manager of the Muslim Co-operative Bank Limited.

Police have booked three unidentified accused under Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code and sections of the Information Technology Act.

As per the press release issued by the police Saturday, there are two ATM centers of the Muslim Co-operative Bank, one at M G Road and another at the Hidayatullah road in Pune Camp area.

Accused persons tampered the technical system of the two ATM machines and removed a total of Rs 4.08 lakh from them between December 3 and December 4, the press release said.

According to police, the crime was committed in such a manner that even though the money was removed from the ATM machines, the withdrawal was not recorded in the ATM system.

After the bank officials came to know about it, they lodged a complaint with the police.

Police are probing into the CCTV cameras installed at the ATM centers to get clues about the accused persons.

Senior police inspector Dashrath Patil is investigating the case.
