
Supporters of winning candidates flouted the restrictions imposed by the city police on taking out processions and bursting crackers.
In Hadapsar,the police seized weapons from supporters of a political party. Except for the cases of altercation between supporters at three places,counting of votes was peaceful,police said.
DCP (special branch) Sanjay Jadhav said,Overall,counting was peaceful. We have received reports of winning candidates taking out rallies and bursting crackers at some places. The respective police station will look into individual cases.
Reports of crackers being burst came in from Kothrud,Hadapsar,Aundh,Sangvi,Shivajinagar and Nagar Road. In Pimpri-Chinchwad,too,immediately after all the results were out in Gawli Matha area,supporters of the winning candidates started bursting crackers.
Vishwambhar Golde,inspector (crime) with Hadapsar police station,said,Some MNS workers were allegedly beaten up by Congress workers. We have detained four persons and also seized weapons including swords from the suspects.
In a dispute between Shiv Sena and NCP workers,supporters of Vijay More and Vijay Deshmukh clashed with each other after the results.
In Aundh,a mob allegedly pelted stones at the car of former mayor Datta Gaikwad. Chatuhshrungi police have registered a case against 350 people.
