A pistol and 20 live cartridges belonging to an Army officer were stolen from a room inside the quarters at 512 Army base workshop in Khadki area.
A serving Army Colonel lodged the first information report (FIR) in this case at the Khadki police station on Wednesday.
Police said the complainant is currently posted at the Armoured Corps Center and School in Ahmednagar. He was earlier posted at the 512 Army base workshop, where he was provided with an accommodation.
Police said the complainant had kept some of his belongings in a room inside this accommodation. Between March 21, 2023 and August 12, 2023, an unidentified person entered the room by breaking window glasses and stole a private pistol worth Rs 25,000 and cartridges estimated at Rs 20,000, belonging to the complainant.
Senior police inspector Rajendra Sahane of Khadki police station said, “The stolen pistol actually belonged to the complainant’s grandfather, who was also an Army officer. Family of the complainant still maintained the pistol and the licence required for its possession. Probe is on.”
Police have booked the unidentified accused in this case under sections 454, 457, 380 of the Indian Penal Code. Police sub inspector Vaibhav Magdum is investigating the case.
