THE Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation today published the draft delimitation map of 32 electoral prabhags (panels) for the ensuing civic elections. Each prabhag will elect four corporators which will add up to a total of 128.
Civic sources said the map is the same as that of 2017 elections. Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh said,”Today we released the draft delimitation map. Every prabhag will have four corporators.”
The PCMC chief said from August 22 to September 4, citizens can send in their objections and suggestions. ”From September 5, a secretary level officer appointed by the state government will hold the hearings of citizens from September 5 to September 12,” he said. The government official will then finalise the draft delimitation map from September 13 to September 15 and forwarded it to the Urban Development Department which will then send it to the State Election Commission between September 16 and September 22. After that the SEC will give its final approval.
The final notification in this regard is expected between October 3 and October 6, officials said.
The last PCMC elections were held in 2017. BJP had won the election for the first time in its history. It ruled for five years until 2022 when Shekhar Singh took charge as the administrator. He has been in-charge serving both as municipal commissioner and the administrator.
The objections would be about the non-inclusion of certain areas in a prabhag or those relating to the boundaries.
