A 14-year-old boy died after he jumped from the seventh floor of Roseland Society in Pimple Saudagar on Saturday afternoon.
Police have identified the deceased as Malhar Makrand Joshi. Police suspect this to be a case of suicide, but a probe is on to confirm the cause behind the incident.
Police said Malhar was in ninth grade. He and his brother were at home as their parents had gone out to Parli in Beed district.
A prima-facie probe has revealed that Malhar spoke to his mother from the house of a family friend around 12 noon and then he jumped from the seventh floor of the building.
He was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries around 2.30 am. Pimpri Chinchwad police have launched an investigation into the incident. The body of the deceased boy was taken for postmortem.
Police said the parents of the deceased were informed about the incident. Also, as per the legal procedure, a case of accidental death was lodged at the Sangvi police station.
Police inspector Mahesh Bansode of Sangvi police station said that a probe is on and the cause behind the minor’s death is not yet confirmed.
