Parents, teachers to meet education board chairman today

All questions were from the text book. We are ready to tell even the page numbers from where they were taken.

Parents and teachers of junior college students will meet Sarjerao Jadhav, chairman,Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) on Thursday to press for a retest of Class XII Physics written exam.

“The Physics paper was set according to CBSE standards and this is unfair. Most students were in tears after coming out of the exam hall,” said Sandeep Khardekar, president,Creative Foundation,an NGO that is spear heading Thursday’s meet. “Considering that Class XII results are important and depending upon that students are selected for various competitive exams,we demand that the board should conduct a retest or at least lower the passing marks,” Khardekar said.

Refuting the allegations,Sarjerav Jadhav said,“The paper was set as per syllabus. All questions were from the text book. We are ready to tell even the page numbers from where they were taken. Hence, the allegation of framing a tough question paper is absolutely wrong.” He added,“Students who followed the text books found the paper quite easy. It was hard for those who were studying according to coaching classes’ prescribed syllabus. Plus three hours were given for a 70 marks paper which is more than enough. Hence, there is no question of retest or lowering the passing marks.”
