Venkatraman Ramakrishnan,the winner of the Nobel Prize (Chemistry) in 2009,will visit Pune in December. He will be in the city to receive the Pride of India,an award instituted by KH Firodia Foundation. Other winners are Goverdhan Mehta and Ajay Sood.
We have instituted the award to inspire youngsters and attract them into science, said Raghunath Mashelkar of KH Firodia Foundation.
In a function on December 18,Venki will receive Rs 5 lakh,while Mehta and Sood will get Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1 lakh respectively.
