The city police have arrested a man for allegedly murdering his wife following a petty dispute over not giving him a lunch box while going for work.
A first information report (FIR) was lodged against him at the Kondhwa police station on Sunday. Police said the accused Somnath Mahadev Pandagale (30) lives in Undri Holewasti, quarreled with his wife Sheetal (27) at their residence when she did not prepare his lunch box while he was going for work.
Somnath allegedly thrashed his wife repeatedly with a wooden stick. She suffered fits during the incident and collapsed.
Upon being informed, her family members took her to a hospital in an unconscious state, but doctors at the hospital pronounced her dead.
When police were informed about the incident, they arrested Somnath under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code for murdering his wife.
