Devendra Fadnavis and long list
During a rally in the Parvati constituency ahead of the November 20 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis read out the names of the leaders present on the dais on Wednesday evening.
The list was quite long. After he finished reading it, Fadnavis said he wanted to apologise if he missed the name of any leader. “Don’t blame me, blame the person who prepared this text,” he said, drawing guffaws from the dais.
Turning the tables, the Thackeray way
At a press conference in Mumbai on Thursday, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray faced a range of questions from reporters, including the tussle among the alliance partners of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) over the seat-sharing issue.
As Thackeray held forth, he paused for a minute and looked at the reporters indulging in one-upmanship while trying to throw questions at him. ”You people are asking me questions about our tussle over seats and what are you doing among yourself?” he asked, leaving the journalists squirming in their seats.
Ashok Pawar v/s Ashok Pawar v/s Ashok Pawar
Meanwhile, the Shirur Assembly seat is set to witness an intriguing contest with three candidates bearing the same name – Ashok Pawar.
The Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) has fielded Ashok Raosaheb Pawar — one of the main contenders in the Shirur Assembly seat. Ashok Ganpat Pawar and Ashok Ramchandra Pawar, two Independents, have also thrown their hat in the ring in Shirur.
What if they are hoping they would benefit from the ‘name confusion’? It’s all about politics.
