The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday attached four properties in Pune’s Kondhwa in connection with the ISIS terror module case on grounds of being “proceeds of terrorism”.
NIA sleuths put up boards carrying the ‘Notice of Attachment’ at all four locations in Mitha Nagar area of Kondhwa. The notices informed the public that these properties being ‘proceeds of terrorism’ stand attached under provision of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
NIA officials said that terror suspects arrested in the Pune ISIS case allegedly used these four locations in Kondhwa to live and carry out terror activities.
It may be recalled that in the early hours of July 18, 2023, a Pune city police team nabbed three persons — Mohammed Shahnawaz Alam alias Shafi alias Abdulla of Jharkhand, Mohammed Yusuf Khan and Mohammed Yunus Mohammed Yakub Saki, both from Madhya Pradesh, on suspicion of vehicle theft from Kothrud area. Alam allegedly fled police custody when being taken for a house search in Kondhwa. Further investigation revealed that both Khan and Saki were ‘most wanted’ by
NIA in a case related to recovery of explosives from a car in Rajasthan in March 2022.
NIA termed the case as Pune ISIS module case. NIA alleged that the ISIS terror suspects nabbed from Pune allegedly “organised and participated in bomb-making workshops”, prepared a demo IED and conducted a “controlled explosion” at Kondhwa in 2022. NIA has so far chargesheeted 11 accused persons in this case.
