Int’l football tournament kicks off

An international football tournament,which features a number of teams comprising students from several foreign countries,got underway on Saturday at the Range Hills ground.

An international football tournament,which features a number of teams comprising students from several foreign countries,got underway on Saturday at the Range Hills ground.

The tournament is being organised by the the International Youth Centre of the University of Pune for all the foreign students studying in the city.

Vietnam took on Tibet while Bhutan was up against Mauritius in the inaugural matches.

The Vietnamese students relied on a solitary first-half goal from Vuth Anh to get the better of Tibet. Anh found the net in the 35 th minute,and the team held on for a 1-0 victory.

Bhutan,on the other hand,had a relatively easy victory against Mauritius,thanks to their striker Dorji. Dorji produced a brilliant hat-trick,scoring in quick succession in the 5th and 7th minute of the match respectively.

He wrapped up the game with a third goal in the 43rd minute,as Bhutan won 3-0.
